Tesco Introduced HUDL Tablet to competes with iPad Mini and Nexus 7


Tesco has announced a plan to launch its own Android tablet, which will appear on September 30th under the name Hudl. It’s a seven-incher, running at 1440 x 900 resolution on a 1.5GHz quad-core chipset, that’s yours for £119. It’s not the budget clunker we were expecting. 
Tesco says the Hudl tablet runs on Android 4.2.2 and there’s barely any OS customisation apparent from its images, which is nice, as the idea of a Tesco UI filled us with dread. What Tesco has added is its own digital services launcher, which contains the Blinkbox film and TV app, Clubcard TV, its own banking apps and more. So, I myself will have a look at this new tablet from Tesco and let's see if it's worthy of replacing my old Nexus 7.
Hudl colours
Just like my old Nexus 7 has 16GB of onboard storage but Hudl has the edge here because of Micro-SD card slot for adding more storage, Micro-HDMI output and dual-band Wi-Fi, while Tesco says it ought to manage a nine hour battery life. There are four colours on offer, and if that £119 asking price is too high, Tesco says Clubcard holders will be able to buy it at a discounted rate through the Clubcard Boost rewards plan, where voucher discounts are worth more and stuff becomes cheaper.
Tesco boss Philip Clarke said: “Hudl is a colourful, accessible tablet for the whole family to enjoy. The first stage in our tablet offering, it’s convenient, integrated and easy to use with no compromise on spec. Customers are quite rightly very discerning about the technology they buy so we knew we had to be competitive on all fronts.”
Given the tech, the price and relatively “vanilla” version of Android it comes with, this is looking like it might be a rather huge seller. Let's see.
